“The regional chairperson was driving to Suncity, KwaMhlanga and when he passed Hokai was overtaken by an unknown vehicle. Guns were pointed at him and he was forced to stop,” Matshoga said, adding that the suspects then jumped into Mashilo’s vehicle and sped off with him still inside the car.

“The hijackers then drove to East Rand with him before dropping him off near Olifantsfontein at around 8pm. No injuries were sustained and his double cap Toyota has since not been recovered.

“They took the laptop, bank cards, wallet, money, cellphone and everything inside the car. The incident has been reported to the Olifantsfontein Police Station in Clayville.

“We appeal to members of the public who may have information on the incident or may have spotted the registration number to report the matter to the police,” Matshoga said.
