Free Jacob Zuma advocate and Fees Must Fall activist Bonginkosi Khanyile (31) was on Tuesday granted R5000 bail in the Durban Magistrates’ Court following his bail application.
The spokesperson of the national prosecuting authority (NPA) in KwaZulu-Natal Natasha Kara said Khanyile faces a charge of incitement to commit public violence as well charges of Contravention of the Disaster Management Act.
Kara said Khanyile was given the following bail conditions:
– He must report at the Hillbrow police station twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays between 6am and 6pm when he is at the Wits University campus
– If/when he is in Durban, he must report at Durban Central Police Station between the same hours and on the same days
– He must suspend and not use his Twitter account.
“He was warned that should he breach his bail conditions, the state can bring an application to have his bail revoked and he can be kept in custody for the duration of the criminal matter.
“The matter was postponed to 23 September 2021 for the matter to be transferred to the regional court.”
