A 36-year-old man from Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth) in the Eastern Cape was arrested on Thursday, 30 September 2021 at a house in Walmer.
Police in the province said the man was arrested three months after the commencement of an investigation into a case of a WhatsApp sexual predator.
“[The South African Police Service] Gauteng provincial serial and electronic crime investigation unit (SECI) cracked the case and arrested a 36-year-old Gqeberha man on 30 September at a house in Walmer,” the police said.
The police further urged women who may have encountered the same or similar experiences of the women involved in the case of the 36-year-old suspect to contact detective, warrant officer Huligonda Smuts at the police in Walmer on 082 319 8707 or contact Crimestop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app.
