KZN whistleblower Thabiso Zulu charged after allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman

Whistleblower in the Sindiso Magaqa murder case, Smangaliso Thabiso Zulu was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (Assault GBH).

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said the alleged assault happened on 11 September 2021 at 4.50pm, while a seven month pregnant woman was canvassing for a position of ward councillor at Hanniville community hall.

“The KwaZulu-Natal Political Task Team conducted investigations into this case and subsequently  arrested and detained Zulu for Assault GBH.

“The accused  appeared in the Pietermaritzburg magistrates court  on 11 October 2021  before he was released on bail. The accused is expected to reappear in court on 9 November 2021.

“We continue to appeal to our communities to work closely with the police by reporting all crimes as well as provide information which could assist police in bringing perpetrators to book. Information can be provided either via our Crime Stop number 086 00 10111 or MySAPS App. Informers may remaind anonymous and all information will be treated with strictest confidence,” Naidoo said.
