Police in KwaZulu-Natal have said that Zenzele Mzila, aged 36, appeared in the Mtubatuba Magistrate’s Court on 6 October 2021 for charges of attempted murder following an incident that occurred at Mbazwana on Tuesday, 5 October.
Police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala said Mzila also appeared in court fot illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
“He was remanded in custody until 12 October 2021,” Gwala said.

Gwala said on Tuesday, 5 October 2021, at around 7.50pm, police officers from Hluhluwe received information about a suspicious vehicle traveling towards the town at a high speed.
“It was reported that the said vehicle was involved in an attempted murder case in Mbazwana where a 27-year-old male was allegedly shot multiple times on the body while at Ebunganeni area in Mbazwana. Hluhluwe police officers proceeded to the R22 Road in Hluhluwe where a vehicle was spotted and they pursued it from Mziki River. It was then intercepted at the Landini turn off.
“Mzila was searched and found with a pistol, magazine and two rounds of ammunition. He was then placed under arrest. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded for further investigation,” Gwala said.
