The Investigating Directorate (ID) working with members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested a suspect at the O.R Tambo International airport on Tuesday evening who is allegedly linked to the corruption saga involving Transnet and Gupta-linked companies Regiments Capital and Trillian.
ID spokesperson, Sindisiwe Seboka said the arrest is linked to money laundering of the proceeds from contracts that were improperly awarded by Transnet to Regiments Capital and Trillian as well as thefts by Regiments Fund Managers from the Transnet Second Defined Benefit Fund
“The suspect was apprehended before boarding an international flight to Dubai at 7pm this evening. He is expected to appear at the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court tomorrow,” Seboka said.
