Tributes pour in for the former leader of the Zulu regiments Mgilija Nhleko

Tributes continue to pour in for the former leader of the Zulu regiments Zihogo Mgilija Nhleko following reports of his passing on Monday.

It was reported in late August that Nhleko was admitted to hospital where he was reportedly treated for stress, among other issues.

IOL reported at the time that after he was admitted to hospital, it was found that Nhleko had tuberculosis (TB).

It was not clear what was Nhleko’s cause of death.

Nhleko was reportedly dismissed as the leader of the Zulu regiments after he allegedly challenged Zulu King Misuzulu’s authority during an interview on TV.

Nhleko reportedly also came under fire after he led regiments to the Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal, residence of former president Jacob Zuma a few days before the now medical parolee handed himself over to start serving a 15 months jail term for being in contempt of court.
